Bio: Dr. Adrien Gaidon is an experienced Machine Learning researcher, engineer, manager, executive, and investor. He is a Partner at Calibrate Ventures, an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Stanford, and a technical advisor and former head of ML at TRI.

Abstract: This talk will aim to convince you why building (or joining) an Embodied AI startup is a compelling opportunity. First, with the advancements in Robot Vision, the most intriguing question now is how to make it practically useful. Second, now is an ideal time for researchers to venture into startups, though the transition from academia to entrepreneurship can be challenging due to a lack of preparation. Key points to consider during this process will be discussed. Finally, the talk will highlight the benefits of alternating between research and product development, as this interplay enriches both areas.
